THE EVACUATION SYSTEMS OF TOMORROW - AVAILABLE TODAY®

HIGH-RISE NEEDS

FIRES, EARTHQUAKES, BOMB THREATS, CHEMICAL LEAKS, TERRORIST ATTACKS
all contribute to the need for our Emergency Evacuation chairs. The need for emergency Evacuation chairs has existed since buildings were constructed above street level. We soon learned about the dangers of evacuating a building by elevator as the elevator can stall due to mechanical failure and elevator shafts can become smoke and fire chambers, leaving occupants trapped in the elevator car. Many high rise buildings automatically cut the power to elevators in an emergency situation. Every building with an elevator has one or more stairwells and needs one or more of our Emergency Evacuation chairs on each floor.

The signs located near an elevator direct occupants to the nearest stairwell, which is the best location for an Emergency Evacuation chair. A mobility impaired individual can usually get to the stairway, but cannot get up or down the stairs, as necessary.

Having these evacuation devices in your building greatly reduces your liability exposure by providing a quick and easy means of evacuation for mobility impaired persons.

View the instructions below on how to use our Emergency Evacuation chairs.

Emergency Evacuation Chair Instruction Guide

During emergency evacuations elevators do not always work, in some cases they are purposely shut-off to avoid other dangers.

Evacuation chairs should be easily accessible: Mounted on a wall near stairwells.

Remove from wall and unfold, Secure latches, Remove front handles for better access.

Assist evacuee into chair,Replace handles (if removed), Secure chest harness and arm/leg straps as needed Wheel evacuee to stairwell for evacuation.

With two people lift chair using handles, Keep arms extended and relaxed. The additional side handles allow more people to assist. Side handles may also be removed for narrow stairways.

Evacuate downstairs with evacuee oriented as shown above.

Relocate upstairs with evacuee oriented as shown above.

Once out of the building, evacuee can be quickly wheeled to safety.
