TO ALL OUR VIEWERS
Ionization smoke detector fails 'aquarium' test Federal appeals court upholds $2.8M award for faulty smoke alarm. Indiana's new smoke alarm policy affects millions of Hoosiers New testing prompts new call for action State fire marshal says smoke detector report shows "emergency" "Deadly Delay" investigation prompts Congressional action Small town tragedy offers nationwide lesson The following links to videos from WTHR Channel 13 Eyewitness News in Indianapolis, IN were put together by Bob Segall, one of WTHR’s investigative reporters. Bob, as of December of 2007, has spent over nine months investigating the inherent problems with smoke detectors which use ionization sensors. This first video tells the story of a major tragedy that occurred in Barre, Vermont. Russell Ashe of the Barre, Vermont fire department is a member of our Advisory Panel. Next are two videos, Part 1 and Part 2, which further verify that for some thirty years major manufacturers of smoke detectors using ionization sensors have sold units that have been proven, time after time, to not detect and/or warn of a smoldering fire in a timely fashion. It has been stated numerous times that a picture is worth a thousand words; with this in mind, we urge our viewers to look at the following two videos which confirm that the smoke detectors L.I.F.E. is bringing to the marketplace not only detect smoldering fires in a timely fashion, as all our units utilize photoelectric sensors, but in addition, L.I.F.E.’s Guiding Light™ and LASER-ALERT® detectors and their LASER-ALERT® domes, activated by our detectors, guide you to safety via pre-selected evacuation paths. Click here to view Part 1 of Deadly Delay Click here to view Part 2 of Deadly Delay Next, you can link to an Aquarium Test which visually illustrates the sensor failures in detecting smoldering fires when using an ionization smoke detector. The manufacturers and the various national testing facilities have known about this for years, yet they still certify and sell them, thus lulling thousands of home owners into a false sense of security, thinking they’ve protected their families by installing these units in their homes, condos, etc. We here at L.I.F.E. feel that when one knows their wares are faulty and do not do what the package states it will do, act as a smoke detector, this is tantamount to fraud and fraud is criminal. Creating a combi-unit (photoelectric and ionization sensors in a single unit) is NOT the answer! The ionization sensors will still activate near any cooking area (kitchens) or hot steam areas (bathrooms), and after repeated “false alarms”, many homeowners will deactivate their units by disconnecting the wires if they have a unit powered by 110v (in the United States) or removing the battery to stop the annoyance of the “false alarms”. Now, the structure has no protection whatsoever. L.I.F.E. will also be offering a combi-unit, however ours will combine a photoelectric sensor with a heat sensor. Heat sensors are just that – they activate when a pre selected temperature (normally 135° F) is detected by the unit, regardless of the size of the smoke particles. Heat sensors operate independently of the photoelectric sensors in our combi-units, thus our combi-units will be fire/smoke detectors. Click here to view the Aquarium Test We thank you for taking the time to fully view the videos we’ve made available to you via these links to public telecasts from WTHR Channel 13 Eyewitness News in Indianapolis, IN. We provided these links to substantiate the failure of smoke detectors using ionization sensors in detecting smoldering fires in a timely fashion. Neither Bob Segall or WTHR Channel 13 Eyewitness News are endorsing our products. By fully understanding the inherent dangers in presuming that ionization sensors in the smoke detectors you currently have in your structures will detect an impending fire in a timely fashion, you’ll be able to able to make an intelligent decision on how to protect your loved ones and help us to STOP THE CHILDREN FROM BURNING!™. |
